Cookie policy

Last checked: 5 September 2026.

The short version

We set one cookie to remember whether you agreed to being counted. If you agree, Google Analytics sets two more. If you do not, it sets none, and nothing about your visit is measured.

You can change your mind at any time using Cookie preferences at the foot of every page.

What is actually set

Before you choose

Nothing. No cookies, and nothing in your browser's storage. We checked, in a clean browser, on every page of this site.

Whichever you choose

| Name | What it is for | How long it lasts | |---|---|---| | lift-consent | Remembers whether you agreed to analytics, so we do not ask again on every page | 182 days |

This one is set only once you have answered, and it exists purely to honour your answer. There is no way to refuse it and still have your refusal remembered.

Only if you accept

| Name | What it is for | How long it lasts | |---|---|---| | _ga | Google Analytics, to tell one visitor from another | 400 days | | _ga_L2ERZF3CXX | Google Analytics, to keep track of a single visit | 400 days |

If you refuse, neither is set and no request is made to Google at all. We do not load the Google tag and then tell it to behave; we do not load it.

Other services this site uses

These are contacted whatever you choose, because the site cannot work without them. None of them stores anything on your device.

| Service | What it does here | What it sees | |---|---|---| | Cloudflare Turnstile | Checks that a form is being filled in by a person | Your IP address and browser, at the moment you use a form | | Sentry | Tells us when something breaks | Your IP address and what went wrong, if an error occurs | | Vercel | Serves this website | Your IP address, as any web server does |

We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and free of abuse for these, rather than on your consent, because they store nothing on your device and the site would not function without them. If you would rather we did not, please do not use the site, and write to us instead — the address is on the contact page.

Changing your mind

Cookie preferences, at the foot of every page. Refusing is one click, exactly as accepting is.

You can also clear cookies in your browser at any time. If you do, we will ask again on your next visit, because your answer was in the cookie you cleared.
