What this covers
This site does two things with your information: it takes a brief when you ask us to build a website, and it takes a message when you use the contact form. That is all.
What we collect, and why
When you build a brief
We ask for your name, your business name, your email address, and a description of what you do. Optionally, a town, and links to your current website, Facebook page or Instagram.
We use these to write you a quote and to reply. Nothing else.
Our lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box beside the email field. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we will delete what we hold.
When you send a message
Your name, business name, email address, an optional phone number, and your message. Same basis, same box, same right to withdraw.
What we look at about your business
When you send a brief, we look at what is publicly available about your business — your website, your social pages, your Google listing, and what similar businesses nearby are doing. This is to work out what your site needs.
We only look at what anyone could look at. We do not buy data about you, and we do not use anything we find for any purpose other than answering your enquiry.
Automated help, and what it does not decide
We use an AI model to read what you have told us and suggest which pages your site might need, and to check that your enquiry is the kind of work we take on.
Two things about that:
- It suggests; you decide. Every page it proposes is a tick box you can untick, and the price is yours to change before you send anything.
- It does not decide anything about you on its own. If it flags an enquiry as one we might not take, a person reads it before anything is said to you. There is no automated decision with legal or similarly significant effect.
We send it only what you typed and the list of things we sell. Anthropic, who provide the model, do not use it to train their models.
When you visit
Our web host records your IP address, as every web server does. If something breaks, our error monitoring records what went wrong and your IP address. If you agree to it, Google Analytics counts your visit.
The cookie policy sets out exactly what is stored and when.
Who else sees it
We use other companies to run this service. They only ever process your information on our instructions.
| Who | What they do | Where | |---|---|---| | Vercel | Hosts this website | United States, with UK/EU transfer safeguards | | Supabase | Stores briefs and messages | Ireland | | Resend | Sends our emails | United States, with UK/EU transfer safeguards | | Cloudflare | Checks forms are filled in by people | United States, with UK/EU transfer safeguards | | Upstash | Stops the forms being abused | United Kingdom | | Sentry | Tells us when something breaks | European Union | | Anthropic | The model that suggests your site's pages | United States, with UK/EU transfer safeguards | | Google | Analytics, only if you agree | United States, with UK/EU transfer safeguards |
Some of these are in the United States. Vercel, Resend, Cloudflare and Anthropic transfer your information under the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose, together with the UK addendum. Google relies on the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We keep a register of these agreements.
We never sell your information, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing.
How long we keep it
- An enquiry we decline: closed and deleted after 30 days.
- An enquiry that does not become a client: deleted after 12 months.
- A client: for as long as we look after your site, and then six years, because our accounts have to be kept that long.
- Analytics: event data for 2 months. Identifiers tied to a person are kept for 14 months, counted from their most recent visit — so for someone who keeps coming back, they do not expire.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can withdraw consent at any time. You can object to what we are doing with it.
Email hello@liftstudios.uk and we will answer within one month. There is nothing to pay.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first, so we can put it right.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If the change matters, we will tell the people it affects.
